How to do beats is something that is simple to get started in, fun to learn, and difficult to master. If you want to know how to do beats, you have to search for the right tools and information and most of all, you need to learn to listen to music to break down the elements.
This is the beginning of your journey to learning how to do beats of your own.
The elements of how to do beats for the basic hip-hop beat, for example, are quite often composed of drums with a heavy kick, snare and hi-hats in the most basic form. Next, comes the all important bass line and, of course there are other important instruments like guitar, strings, horn hits, scratch sounds, sirens and countless other sound effects that you have to consider that are available to you.
In general though, the most important thing in knowing how to do beats for hip-hop is the bottom understanding that a bottom heavy mix and a syncopated rhythmic feel or “Bounce” to make things groove right is a prime characteristic of the style. And don’t forget to make sure that your drums and bottom end has the right amount of punch to it too.
Another key point in how to do beats in hip-hop beat making, as well as most forms of popular music really, is to make sure that your bass and drums lock in the rhythm section.
