Cyber Sequencer Reviewed – Updated!
The world’s newest beat making software is Coming Soon! Here!
It is called “Cyber Sequencer” and it comes from the makers of DUBTurbo Music Production Software.
Determined to improve on their previous work, they have given this new piece a new designation. It is no longer beat making software, but rather, this new puppy has graduated to Workstation Status, according to its new name.
That’s right! It is Cyber Sequencer Beat Making Workstation Software and it will be coming out very soon! is available for download now.
So what is different about this new addition to the world of digital music production you might ask.
Well, one thing is that they have corrected
the problem that many beat making software tools in this price range have, which is a short memory. Cyber Sequencer now automatically stores volumes and settings for a project in the source file and automatically applies the saved changes for you.
It also changes and saves volumes for each individual track as well, which are all things that its predecessor, DUBTurbo, does not do. That can be a little frustrating and cumbersome to deal with at times.
The program holds true to form with excellent 44.1 kHz .wav stereo output quality and custom made sampled sounds as well.
In fact the program has carried over many of the features like:
- A Similar but Improved Interface/Layout System
- 16 Tracks with up to 10 drum pads per track
- Bar count control.
- Online and Offline Versions Available for MAC and PC
- Light Weight Audio Engine to prevent lag and latency
- Import for Custom Kits
- 1000′s of broadcast quality mastered custom sounds and samples with a wide variety of instruments included (Not only Drums)
- Multiple Input Methods (Live-Mode Editing Available)
- Easy Tutorial Training Videos and More!
The user interface has been upgraded to a 3-panel system which should make navigation and workflow smoother and more efficient.
The key editor display gives you a clear picture of all 16 tracks. Each track also allows you to add up to 10 drum pads per track totaling 160 available positions.
Integrated mixing controls are included on the layout panel for easy access and per-track volume and settings changes are now automatically stored in the source files for each project.
Volume changes can be made and saved for each channel and pad.
All of the above items are things that are usually missing from other recording solutions near the price range of Cyber Sequencer, making it the dominant choice in its class in our view.
The ability to save your settings alone makes it a real winner, simply because that is a feature that is usually only found on packages that cost up to hundreds of dollars more than this software does.
The online version has MAC as well as PC compatibility which was a show stopper for MAC users who wanted to get in previously, so this is a really BIG DEAL!
Also, as far as we can tell at this time, no other online beat maker in this class offers that capability.
The import for custom kits and the 1000′s of high quality sounds and samples that are already available make it a formidable tool if used properly at any level.
Longer tracks are easy to control with assignable bar counts. You can easily control whether your screen represents a 1 bar loop, 4 bars, 8, 32 or even more. It’s totally up to you.
A Universal Tempo Clock (UTC) has also been included making it possible to match up tempos with all other popular DAW’s (Digital Audio Workstations) for greater editing possibilities.
In harmony with that, another powerful feature is that it has a quantized sequencer grid, which means that everything you do will be rhythmically synchronized automatically.
This is great feature to have because it eliminates off-sounding elements and saves a lot of time wasted unnecessarily when you have to spend hours copying, pasting, and nudging individual not values around on a graphical key editor.
However, sometimes you may want things to sound a little bit off and would be helpful to have more control over that function. There is no way to control it if you want to remove or adjust the quantization as far as we can see at this time.
Generally, the initial process of creating beats and parts has been streamlined, simplified and made to be more efficient overall. We found it to be an improvement to an already satisfactory system design.
In this area, the only small complaint that we found ist this: we thought that the DUBTurbo graphical editing system was be a bit clumsy or even non-existent when it came to splitting, splicing, copying and pasting parts after they had initially been created. There are ways to accomplish these tasks in the program, but most were not as seamless as they could be. At this time we are not aware that the Cyber Sequencer system has many any great improvements in this area.
To be fair though, we also want to add that we have only seen these types of controls offered in tools that are significantly higher in price. In the price category that Cyber Sequencer is being offered, it comes the closest by far. So this is definitely not a show stopper and will just have to remain on our wish list for now.
There are many more things that could be said, but then this post would really start to be too long.
So, let’s sum it up with some pro’s and con’s, not all of which were necessarily discussed above:
Pro’s:
- Easy Tutorial Training Videos
- Easy to use 3 panel graphical user interface system
- 16 track with up to 10 drum pads per track
- Assignable Bar Count Controls
- Online and Offline Versions Available for MAC and PC
- Light Weight Audio Engine to prevent lag and latency
- Import for custom kits
- 1000′s of broadcast quality mastered sounds and samples
- 44.1 kHz stereo .wav audio export
- Multiple Input Methods (Live-Mode Editing Available)
- Quantized Key editor Workspace
- Universal Tempo Clock (UTC)
- Automatically saves volume and settings changes
- Price tag well under $50!
Con’s:
- Does not accept an optional external keyboard controller
- No quantization control features
- Clumsy editing tools for manipulating parts
- No ability to control the bit rate for mastering
- No audio recording capabilities for capturing samples
In conclusion, the overall result is that Cyber Sequencer is a great choice, maybe the best one for any package under $200.
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wished to mention that I have truly loved surfing around your blog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I am hoping you write again soon!
How can you rate this application as 5 outta 5 when you can’t even quantize or use a midi controller?
Thank you for the relevant comment.
The program was rated against other programs in the same class and price range. It actually does auto-quantize everything which is does not seem to be true in at least one of the other tools in this class, however, it does fall short on quantization control because you cannot adjust the quantization settings manually like you would in more advanced (and much more expensive) top end tools like Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic, etc…
Also, midi control capability would be nice… agreed. However, no other program in this price range that we know of at this time is available with midi interface capabilities.
During the rating process, consideration was given to the fact that this software can be categorized as virtual beat making software which designed to be a quick and easy solution that primarily allows beginners and hobbyists to produce clean, usable sounds that appraoch pro quality at bargain basement prices. Other products competing directly in that space do not exceed its performance and features and a comparison of this software against DAW’s which fall into a much higher class and price range would be inappropriate. Simply put, it is not the tool for Professional producers and engineers nor is it marketed to them per se.
Therefore, the review was strictly limited to tools which are direct competitors within the same class and price range and Cyber Sequencer performs very well under those paramaters. That is the rationale behind the 5 out 5 rating at this time.
More reviews and comparisons will be provided in the near future and that rating may change as we gather more information.
